Meet the main players
Gemma Whelan plays Sarah Collins
Who is Sarah Collins? A detective sergeant who's investigating the stabbing of a teenager in season 3.
Whelan previously teased her usually steadfast moral compass may waver in the new season.
Talking to RadioTimes.com and other press in a Q&A, Whelan explained: "Of course, as we know, her moral compass is so – although, it’s quite possibly a bit shaken this season but her moral compass is very north-south."
She added: "She’s unwavering in her policing by the book but I think this calls that into question a bit this season. It hits her personally this kid and how she can’t – normally she can make a difference because she follows the police book and things work out because you follow the rules."
"And this time, it’s so messy. She’s shown a mirror this season and for the first time, Sarah can’t fix it.”
Where have I seen Gemma Whelan before? International viewers will know her as Yara Greyjoy in the epic HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones, but she's also had significant roles in the likes of Gentleman Jack (as Marian Lister), Emma, Upstart Crow (as Kate), Killing Eve (as Geraldine), The End of the F***ing World, White House Farm, and another ITV crime drama, DI Ray.
Tahirah Sharif plays Lizzie Adama
Who is Lizzie Adama? In season 1, Lizzie was a recently qualified police officer, but she's since risen through the ranks and is now a detective constable, which she's trying to juggle with being a first-time mum. In season 3, Lizzie once again crosses paths with Collins.
Where have I seen Tahirah Sharif before? Sharif appeared in Sky's A Town Called Malice, Netflix's The Haunting of Bly Manor, Waterloo Road, The Christmas Prince film franchise and Casualty.
Jimmy Akingbola plays Steve Bradshaw
Who is Steve Bradshaw? A detective constable who goes undercover to infiltrate a drug gang in season 3.
Where have I seen Jimmy Akingbola before? He played Ollie in Ted Lasso and has starred in Kate & Koji, Cheat, Holby City, In the Long Run and Fresh Prince reboot Bel-Air.
Emmett J Scanlan plays Kieran Shaw
Who is Kieran Shaw? A detective inspector who heads up Operation Perseus, an "undercover police task force set up to bring down South London drug kingpin Shakiel Oliver". Shaw was also having an affair with Lizzie last season.
Where have I seen Emmett J Scanlan before? He's best known for playing Billy Grade in BBC period drama Peaky Blinders, Brendan Brady in Hollyoaks, and for starring in Irish crime drama Kin. Scanlan has also had roles in The Deceived, Ten Percent and Gangs of London.
Karl Davies plays Tim Bailie
Who is Tim Bailie? A detective chief inspector who always previously had Shaw's back, regardless of his questionable behaviour.
What else has Karl Davies been in? You might know him from Emmerdale, Sally Wainwright's Happy Valley and The Bay, another ITV crime drama.
Lamar Waves plays Ryan Kennedy
Who is Ryan Kennedy? A teenager from London who's involved with a gang. Ryan witnesses a fatal stabbing in season 3.
What else has Lamar Waves been in? This is his first major role.
The Tower season 3 airs on ITV1 and ITVX from Monday 2nd September to Thursday 5th September at 9pm.
